- See a psychotherapist such as a licensed counselor or psychologist
- Make sure that you’re eating balanced, regular meals, getting out to exercise, varying your routine to include fun activities and sleeping eight hours daily.
- See your medical provider to determine whether your depression may be caused by a physical problem such as a reaction to other meds, heart problems, high blood sugar, low grade infection or chronic headaches
- Some local and national groups, such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) offer local programs and Internet resources that help reduce stigma by educating people with mental illness, their family members and the general public. http://www.nami.org/
- Start or join a weekly men’s or women’s group or find an online group where you can share life concerns with others. Women’s groups have traditionally been very effective. Studies show that men’s groups are very beneficial in helping its members deal with life challenges as well.
