The first sessions will probably be spent obtaining your medical, mental health and family history. The therapist will want to know about the history of your problems, what solutions you’ve tried and what has and hasn’t worked. The therapist will ask about your current schedule and living situation, your relationships, your job and your financial situation. He or she will want to know your goals, wishes and what makes you feel happy. It is very helpful to mention previous trauma, current challenges, and medications being taken.
