Many of us are all too familiar with poverty - the lack of some basic necessities. So now that we've grown up and can provide for ourselves, the last thought on our minds is to hold back, to deprive ourselves. We have been convinced by various arms of the media - mostly marketing companies - that keeping our money means that we are depriving ourselves. Isn't it that we're depriving them - of our hard earned dollars?

Money, in the bank, or wherever you think it's really safe (real estate, food, your personal safe, etc.) is one of the major means of protecting yourself. Every penny, really, that you put aside, makes a difference. Every small item, that you don't buy, leaves your home less cluttered. That leaves your mind less burdened.

Everytime you buy something, especially when you charge it, you are forming an attachment that will remain with you for as long as you own that item. Also, for as long as  you retain that debt.

More importantly, every penny that you give to a company that does not support Black health, wealth and well-being, is a penny that may well finance forces that harm our people, diminish our lives and values.

Think when you spend and you will experience a less stressful, more free life.
